The men’s vest: a garment to be rediscovered

How to wear a vest: the right fit
The first rule the basic one, the vest, as indeed with all other garments, must be the right size and fit to give the right effect to our look.
The vest should be fitted, but not too tight and above all, it should not be too short and should not expose the shirt between the pants and the vest itself. Which unfortunately is very often seen, as we have already mentioned, in the few men who wear it.
Of course, a vest that is too long is also not good; it unbalances the figure, achieving the opposite effect than hoped for, no longer giving the slender effect to our silhouette.

Another very important thing, in addition to the right fit of the vest, the shirt worn should also be fitted, to avoid unsightly bulges of the shirt over the vest that inevitably happen with an ill-fitting and wrong size shirt.
On the other hand, as for the jacket, the buttons should not all be buttoned, in fact the last one is left unbuttoned.
Different matter for formal dresses in which all the buttons should unquestionably be buttoned.

The men’s vest: not just under the jacket
Originally made and created as part of theelegant or classic three-piecesuit, the vest now has no limits and can also be worn without the jacket in a more casual style, over jeans or even Bermuda shorts.

Belt or suspenders?
In order to have a flawless outfit, when wearing a vest under a smart suit, suspenders are the appropriate accessory, unlike the belt they do not produce bulges under the vest due many times to the thickness of the buckle.
However in case the vest is worn in a very casual style, e.g. over jeans, we can be less rigid and choose the belt instead of suspenders.
